Every single day I get at least one email or phone call from someone
looking to replace their pet that was stolen or killed.  I can't say
anything about other breeds, but every breed that I have on my
website seems be high on the list of pets to steal.  Never let you pet
out of your site.  Anytime you plan to take your baby outside of your
home, keep him on a leash, and hold on to that leash at all times.  I
think the worst part of losing your pet is the not knowing what has
happened to them.  That can cause more pain than if they were to die.
The list of how the puppies are stolen or killed would go on forever,
but here are a few common ways the puppies seem to get into harms
way.  Guard your puppy at all times when they are not indoors in your
home!!!!!   Anytime they are outside of your home, have them on a
leash!!!

1.  Stores.  The lady had her puppy in her shopping cart.  She even
had a leash on the puppy but the leash was not tied to the cart.  She
turned her back, but was right there beside her cart, when she looked
back the puppy was gone.  She never did find her pet.  This can
happen in any store that allows pets in the stores.  It happens all the
time. Tie your leash to the cart or hold your pet in your arms.  If you
have your pet in one of those pet carriers that look like a purse, tie the
carrier to the cart.

2.  Back Yard.  You just cant believe how many pets are taken right
out of back yards.  I hear it all the time. She was only out there for five
minuets.  Or all I did was go back into the house for a couple of
minuets.  Or we live in such a quiet neighborhood  that I never
dreamed it could happen here.  Bad people go into good places.
They watch you, learn the pattern, and then wait for the opportunity.
Stay outside with your puppy until he has finished his job.  Then take
him back inside with you.

3. Birds of Prey.  Another problem with your pet being outside alone
or even with your being there with them are birds of prey.  Large birds
will just scoop your puppy up like it was nothing more than a big rat.
They will do it with you standing there.  Then they take him back to
their babies and feed him to them.  If you live in an area with large
birds, keep him on a leash at all times when outdoors.  Keep the leash
short to where the puppy is close to you.

4.  Coyotes   A Coyote will come right into your yard and take your
puppy.  They don't seem to have any fear of us humans when it
comes to what they consider food.   Dogs make a quick kill for
themselves or to feed their Coyote puppies.  Lots of dogs are killed in
this way.  One lady told me of a Coyote climbing a six foot chain link
fence to get to her Maltese.  Yes, the Coyote killed the Maltese before
she could run it off.

5.   Front Yard.  Many times a thief will take a puppy while you are in
your front yard with your pet.  People have told me of being in the
front yard, working in the flowers, only to look around and their pet is
gone.  I have even been told of people slamming on their breaks,
jumping out of the car and trying to steal the pet up with the owners
standing right there!!  Again, if the pet is not in the house, have him on
a leash!!!

6.  Roaming Dogs.  Dogs left to roam the neighborhood can be a real
danger to your pet.  These toy breeds don't have a clue how little they
are, and will run up to a Great Dane and try to show him who is boss.
Needless to say, if the large dog doesn't have a sense of humor, your
pet doesn't have a chance.

7.  Cars.  These little dogs can move so fast, and they seem to have
what I call convenient hearing.  If something catches their attention
across the street from them they can take off in a flash and be in front
of an oncoming car before you know it.  And with their convenient
hearing they may not stop when you are calling them.

Please take this to hart.  The examples I have given here are things
that I hear from people every day.  Be safe, and keep your baby safe.
Your pet depends on you to take care of them. They think the world is
just one big playground.
